Why home security essential for us

Today security is more necessary in this world. Weather it is of our homes or our shops; we require to give essential actions to make sure that we are not victims to the several miscreants that are consecutively rampant. We want to make sure that we are well protected. For a business like a supermarket, spy cameras become necessary.

Moving on from a commercial place like the supermarket and to a very personal place to us like our homes, security cameras help us afford safety here too. However, it might be an emergency and someone might be in real trouble. How are we going to prove it without having to open the door?

When we have a hidden cameras installed, we can simply have a look outside the door as to whether the person is just faking the emergency and waiting with a gun or if the person is in real difficulty. Also if we have security cameras all around our house, we can even verify the surroundings as to if there is an accomplice waiting on the prowl for us to open the door. We can easily check the realism of our emergency.

The security of our home is over a very persistent concern when we are away from home. However, with security cameras installed, we can make sure that we can continuously monitor our house. The feed from our security camera can be accessed during our laptop or even our phone. We can always record who is coming in and going out of our house and simply catch thieves red handed and report them to the authorities.

Different methods of Spy Cameras and Properties

Discreetness today has full on a new name when it comes to spy cameras. Today the spy cameras can be so detached that you will not be able to even notice their presence even if you look valid hard. There are spy cameras that are so small that they can be hidden almost anywhere.
Also it is not the size of the cameras but also the design that would help beating them. The spy cameras are created as clocks, ties, pens and even lamp shades. These are tough to mark out as anything out of the ordinary and blend in well with the background. Camouflage is most crucial when it comes to spy cameras and the designs today serve the purpose well.
Internet IP hidden cameras are a new evolution in the field of spy cameras. While the concept remains the same, the images that are being recorded by the spy cameras are fed to you still the internet.
This means that you can obtain the feed anywhere from any device that can connect to the internet. The feed can be viewed though your laptop or even your phone. This way even if you are on the move you can keep a watch of what is occurrence at your house or at your place of business.
Adding to the convenience are the wireless spy cams. These spy cams are easy to install and do not have the hassle of wires. Therefore they can be planted roughly anywhere. This makes it simple to install and position the cameras in angles that would not have been previously possible.

Android 3.1 for tablets delayed by Google

For all the Android fans here is some bad news.Google has decided not launch tablet version of Android 3.1 till August. The worse thing is that the tablets that were supposed to ship with Android 3.1 – Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 – have been delayed until then too.

However this has been a rumor but this is confirmed by trusted sources.Google first screwed Samsung with the launch Galaxy S smartphone last June. At the time the search giant was very worried that it’s major Android partners were replacing Google’s location technology with the solution provided by a small location service provider called Skyhook. Google first learned about it in April, when Motorola decided to ship it’s next Droid with Skyhook solution. Google then refused to certify Motorola’s Droid 2 as Android compatible device until Motorola removed Skyhook’s location technology. Motorola complied, delaying it’s Droid 2 launch and then shipping it with Google’s location solution which they perceived to be inferior to Skyhook’s. Only to learn that Google allowed Samsung to start shipping it’s Galaxy S handset with the same Skyhook technology that Google now said is not Android compatible.

When Motorola complained, Google ordered Samsung to halt all the shipments of Galaxy S with Skyhook’s tech. Even with tens of thousand’s of Galaxies already sold or on the way to carrier customers. And Samsung had no other choice but to comply, stop all Galaxy S shipments and hastily replace Skyhook with Google’s location provider. Remember all the GPS/location problems Galaxy S had last summer? Yep – most likely it was about that.

Here we go again. With the pre-order options and promised mid-June shipping dates popping up around the world, I’d say thousands of Samsung Galaxy Tabs are en route to the carriers and distributors. And now they will have to sit in the warehouses for a couple of months, until Google fixes whatever last minute bug they found in Android 3.1.

In the meantime, potential customers will keep snapping HTC Flyers, Motorola Xooms and Asus transformers with even buggier Android 3.0 OS.

Netbook Prices to Come Down

A new Atom Processor has been introduced by Intel which is expected to bring down the prices of Netbooks. The netbooks will come under $200 but with a performance penalty.

The single-core Atom N435 runs at 1.33GHz and includes 512KB of cache, making it the slowest of second-generation N-series processors that go into most netbooks today. The next fastest chips are the Atom N450 and N455 chips, which run at 1.66GHz.

Asus is using the new Atom N435 in its latest Eee PC X101, which is priced starting at $199. The laptop is being shown at the Computex trade show being held in Taipei.

Netbooks are generally priced above $250. New netbooks using the N435 will provide "new levels of affordability for emerging markets," said Suzy Ramirez, an Intel spokeswoman, in an e-mail.

The new chip has given a boost to Intel's Meego OS and AppUp application store, as a number of netbooks with the new chip have been announced with the Linux-based operating system. Acer's Aspire One Happy 2, Samsung's N100 and Lenovo's IdeaPad S100, all running the N435 and Meego, are being shown at Computex.

Lower prices could also help draw renewed interest in netbooks, which are small and low-powered laptops for basic word processing and Internet surfing. After a phenomenal take-off in 2008, netbook shipments have stumbled in the last year, partly due to a growing interest in tablets.

Timing Problems in HTC Android Handsets

Turns out iPhones aren’t the only smartphones susceptible to time malfunctions. Phandroid reports that there have been some complaints about HTC Android handsets’ clocks. Users are reporting timing is off anywhere from five to 15 minutes.

Luckily, it’s the Friday before Memorial Day and we’re hoping any of the affected users out there don’t have too many time-sensitive appointments going on. But if you’re one of them and the issue is getting to you, go ahead and manually set it then reboot. You can also wait it out, as some users have said their phones have been fixing themselves.

Of course this is nothing like the iPhone-daylight savings time fiascoes we’ve witnessed, but seeing as the phone has become a de facto watch for many, it’s still fairly annoying.

After a management shakeup, with co-founder Ev Williams out and Jack Dorsey back as head of product, the company is focusing on building and owning Twitter's most compelling features and interfaces.

Android phones vulnerable to serious data leakage

This could be a shocking news to all the Android users all over the world. A whopping 99.7 % of Android smartphones are leaking log in data for Google services. This article is written by Adrian Kingsley Hughes for Zdnet

The problem is in the way that applications which deal with Google services request authentication tokens. These tokens are handy in that they eliminate the need for the user to login to the service, but as the researcher discovered these tokens are sometimes sent in plaintext form over wireless networks. This means that anyone who happened to be eavesdropping on the WiFi network could grab these tokens.

What’s worse is that tokens are not specific to the handset, which means that a token destined for one handset could be used on another.

The implications of this vulnerability reach from disclosure to loss of personal information for the Calendar data. For contact information, private information of others is also affected, potentially including phone numbers, home addresses, and email addresses. Beyond the mere stealing of such information, an adversary could perform subtle changes without the user noticing.

To make matters worse, tokens are valid for a long period of time (14 days for Calendar tokens), which means that someone grabbing your token could have two weeks worth of access to your data.

Here is a list of few solutions for the Android users

Upgrade your handset to Android which offers HTTPS for Google Calender and Contacts sync. However, you may have to wait weeks or months for this update from your carrier, or worse still you may never see it (Like Verizon customers, who are stuck on Android 2.2.2 despite the fact that it contains multiple known vulnerabilities). -

NOTE:
This update still leaves Picassa Sync vulnerable.
Switch off automatic sync when using open WiFi.
Better still, avoid using affected apps on open WiFi connections.
Seems like Android and Google together aren’t doing a good job of protecting user’s data.

Google's mobile operating system was launched in the year 2008 and the company currently activates 500,000 activations worldwide. This time last year, Google was clocking about 100,000 activations a day. That number doubled by the time August rolled around, and by December of 2010, Google was activating 300,000 Android devices every single day. As it stands, the company currently activates 400,000 Android devices each day.

Barra says the company’s now got 310 devices from 36 OEMs in 112 countries across 215 carriers. He also revealed that Google’s 450,000 Android developers have cranked out 200,000 available apps and these have been downloaded a total of 4.5 billion times. The first billion downloads apparently took two years to hit but the most recent billion downloads were done in the last 60 days.

Search Globe from Google

Search globe,a tool was recently launched by Google will visualize people’s curiosity with pinpoints related to the volume of searches grouped by languages.

The Google Data Arts Team, who created Google Body, harnessed the modern browser’s ability to generate fast 3D imaging with WebGL to display a colorful globe that represents the day-to-day searches by people all over the world.

Valdean Klump of the Google Data Arts Team said “The Search Globe visualizes searches from one day, and shows the language of the majority of queries in an area in different colors. You’ll see a bright landscape of queries across Europe, and parts of Asia for instance, but unfortunately we see many fewer searches from parts of the world lacking Internet access—and often electricity as well—like Africa,” explained in a blog post.

Chrome or Firefox 4 is needed to use the tool properly. The 3D tool that navigates the human body is here.

Price cut for Nintendo Wii

The prices of Nintendo Wii game system will be dropping the prices by $50 to $150 and prics of several games will be reduced as they are going to launch the successor next year. The price cut -- the second one since the Wii launched for $250 in 2006 -- comes less than a month after the Japanese company announced the console will have a successor next year. Nintendo Co. said in late April it will show off a playable model of the new system at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which runs June 7- 9 in Los Angeles.

The Wii redefined gaming when it launched nearly five years ago, expanding the video game audience by offering intuitive motion controllers instead of complex buttons. But the Wii isn't as technologically powerful as its counterparts from Sony and Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Unlike those two, it doesn't offer high-definition images.

Nintendo has sold 86 million Wiis worldwide since the system launched, including 35 million in the U.S. As such, it has outsold both of its competitors, but with the price cut the company hopes to expand the console's audience even more widely.

Price cuts extend the lives of gaming systems because more people can afford them. Sony's PlayStation 2 is still sold 11 years after its release. PlayStation 2 sold nearly half of the consoles after price cuts, at $149 and below.

Google working hard to take spam off

Google has found that it search results are found sometimes less ideal and it has planned to reduce the amount of spam to great extent.Google has been maintaining a high level of quality of in the search results but it has conceded that there is a slight increase in spams in the recent months.

A new document level classifier is introduced which makes it to difficult to rank on page spam contents.Matt Cutts said that the new classifier is better at detecting spam on individual web pages, e.g., repeated spammy words — the sort of phrases you tend to see in junky, automated, self-promoting blog comments.

Matt Cutts also said Google radically improved their ability to detect hacked sites, which were a major source of spam in 2010.Google are evaluating multiple changes that should help drive spam levels even lower, including one change that primarily affects sites that copy others’ content and sites with low levels of original content.

There were some rumors that Google were lenient to the spammy sites that are serving Google ads which brings about 30 percentage of it's revenues.Matt Cutts replied "to be crystal clear, Google absolutely takes action on sites that violate our quality guidelines, regardless of whether they have ads powered by Google; displaying Google ads does not help a site’s rankings in Google; and buying Google ads does not increase a site’s rankings in Google’s search results".

First Dual Sim Android Mobile from Motorola

Motorola will be launching First Dual Sim Android Smartphone in India and the launch date is yet to be known officially. The Motorola XT800 Glam will be making its way to our shores and will be the first Dual-Sim Android phone to release here. The Glam has one GSM and one CDMA slot, so users have some flexibility in terms of choices for phone and data functions. The 3.7-inch touchscreen phone also comes with HDMI-out port, GPS and a 5 mega-pixel camera. Bluetooth, Wi-fi, 3G, EDGE and GPRS round up the connectivity options for the phone which is supposedly coming pre-loaded with Android 2.2 (Froyo)

The phone will be priced at Rs. 31,999 and it's a rip off as upgraded version of X800+ is already released in China .So they're essentially pawning off old stock at a premium, which seems rather excessive to me, but the phone does have a lot of features so maybe it might just be worth it

Sixty-seven percent of people reported spam , 43 percent reported phishing messages and malware attacks jumped to 40 percent from 21.2 percent. An attack in one's facebook account is supposed to be the biggest treasure for the hacker as he can gets to know about friend list and relationships.

New survey scams and "clickjacking"  are tricking users into clicking on disguised malicious links were two prominent threats that emerged this past year and will continue to thrive on social networks, especially if Facebook doesn’t take steps to curb the dangers.

"A June 2010 Sophos poll found that 95 percent of respondents wanted Facebook to do more to prevent ‘likejacking’ attacks (essentially clickjacking by liking something on Facebook) and urged the site to impose stricter controls on the plug-in," the report notes.

The social media site, however, is either unable or unwilling to invest the necessary resources to stamp it out.

The cybersecurity landscape is dotted with other land mines, the study found, ranging from attacks targeting smartphones and other mobile devices to large-scale infrastructure breaches, such as Stuxnet-like malware and WikiLeaks-related "hacktivism."

goog.gl from Google

At last there is some news from Google Code Labs after they announced the availability of API for URL shortening and goog.gl is now available.

It works in the same way as other URL shortener which squezes a longer URL into fewer characters which is easier to share and tweet. The developers can shorten and expand URLs using the API, as well as fetch history and analytics. One could use these features for a wide variety of applications, enabling behaviors ranging from auto-shortening within Twitter or Google Buzz clients to running regular jobs that monitor usage statistics and traffic patterns.

Improvements are also made for auto detection of spam and malicious content and the documentation is there for the benefit of application developers

Google's Web Based Science Fair

Google will be making some exciting announcements about a worldwide, web-based science fair.

The tech giant is inviting students ages 13 through 18 from all over the world to compete — and the prizes won’t just be shiny blue ribbons, either. Google will be handing out scholarships and work opportunities to the most impressive entrants.

Youngsters will be able to submit their projects online, presumable through the Science Fair’s website, which has yet to launch with full details.

By this time Google would have hosted a live event on its brand new Science Fair YouTube Channel.

The global science competition is being hosted in partnership with CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), LEGO, National Geographic and Scientific American. The goal is “to create a new kind of online science competition that is more global, open and inclusive than ever before.”

Teachers who want to receive classroom materials, including posters, stickers and bookmarks, as well as get registration information, can start signing up now.

This is one Google event we’ll be following with great interest; we can’t wait to see what cool entries will be coming in from young minds around the globe.
