The supply of Internet addresses ran out after 30 years of it's creation on Thursday. It's not the time to panic as the transition should occur even without even being noticed. After the introduction of IPV4 standards,4 billion IP addresses were bumped up.The explosion of Internet in these 30 years has been enormous and Internet has been a integral part of our life and not to mention the popularity of Google and Facebook.
Already laptops, smartphones and web connected gadgets support IPv6, though Curran notes that according to some estimates less than 1 percent of Internet users may not have their equipment configured properly and will need to adjust their settings in the months ahead, as websites increasingly adopt the new standard.
There are 340 undecillion IPv6 addresses available. That's 340 trillion, trillion, trillion addresses which is equal to the size of sun.
